A New Look!

It’s a new look for Luke Himself!

The old look was starting to feel a bit dated, being rather plain and straight-forward.

The new look introduces a more modern and rounded feel, plus a few small new features:

• A Subscribe link for those wanting to add a RSS feed.
• A more detailed Search function, returning full posts as results.
• A What’s New? summary to easily see my latest posts, wherever a visitor enters.
• An added category Music to split these aside from their previous General location.
• And more minor changes to be made over the next few days.

I hope you like the new look, and continue to read and enjoy Luke Himself. There’s plenty of new blogs on the way on a variety of topics, so be sure the check back soon!

Happy Five Years!

Today is a HUGE today because my blog is reaching it’s half decade birthday. That’s right, my blog is officially 5-years-old! Time sure has flied, and I didn’t think five years ago on this day that my blog was a long-term investment. But a good investment it has been, with plenty of readers, interesting findings and discussions sparking up here at Luke Himself and elsewhere.

Here’s a quick overview of what LukeHimself.net has seen over the past five years:

Maintenance Finished!

Well after two very late nights, I’ve finished moving all the pictures to the one server. This gives my blog a centralized location and ensures that pictures are more reliable, load faster and don’t get affected by limited bandwidth servers.

Along the way I did some other general cleaning of my blog including an update of Top 10 Bands, Movies and Songs blogs, a clean-up of messy text layouts and updates of pictures. I also rechecked all links to ensure they were still existing and working correctly.

Moving House…

I’m currentely moving all my images over the next few days to one web server, to avoid posts with unreliable images or outdated image links.

This will also help to fix up images which are at a bandwidth-limited location.

So if any pictures are missing through your travels, don’t fret – they will be back soon!

Those with a keen eye may have noticed that some of my Top 10s have been updated. Basically, I thought it was time to undertake a ‘revision and update’ of those Top 10 blogs that are a bit outdated and are no longer relative to my likes, or simply newer things have just come along. You may have noticed a few changes occurring overnight here at Luke Himself! Just like down at Eastlink I’ve avoided getting in your way by being up and early to make a few changes!

First of all, you may have noticed the “Book & Movie Reviews” section has now been removed and replaced with two separate sections, Book Reviews and Movies. This makes it a bit easier for people who are only interested in either one.

On that topic, book reviews features a new header that includes the title, author, genre, first published date, whether there’s a movie and when that movie was released and finally my rating (shifted up from the bottom). I basically did this so people can get a bit of a view of the book and decide whether they are interested before reading the review.

And finally, a brand new section, entitled Travel! Although it’s a bit quiet at the moment, hopefully in years to come it will be able to document my round-the-world adventures, as well as trips around the country and my upcoming trip to New Zealand at the end of the year!

As well as this, all posts have been reviewed and those in need of fixing up have been fixed. This means that things like missing pictures, mis-sized pictures, badly formatted paragraphs and the case of my missing numbers in Top 10 lists are now rectified!

They say it’s your birthday!

Believe it or not, on this day three years ago I wrote my very first blog, so today my blog is officially celebrating it’s 3rd birthday! It’s been enjoyable to have somewhere to add all kinds of stuff I find of interest or that cross my mind.

Thanks to all the readers, and according to my stats it looks like they’re coming from all over the place, so thanks and I hope you continue to enjoy it!

New Theme!

Well it’s about near impossible to find a decent WordPress theme but after a bit of searching I found one I’m happy to update to. So here it is, my very Apple looking new theme! It’s a bit smoother than the previous theme and also has the cool little feature of being able to change where the widgets on the sidebar are situated to suit yourself. Give it a try, just drag one down below another! You can also hide/reshow the widgets by using the green icon in the top right. Best of all, these changes are saved in cookies so you can return to your own personalized LukeHimself.net!

Welcome to my new home!

Well here it is, the new home of the Luke Himself blog!

After a day of transferring, tweaking and getting everything up and working, I’m ready to introduce you to the new spot for my blogs. The good news is, all the content from my MSN Spaces blog has been successfully transfered here, including all your comments!

You can still comment and view comments by simply clicking the comment status above each post. Also to make things more organised around here, all the blogs (new and old) have been categorized which you can view on sidebar under ‘Categories’, this will make it easier to view my blogs. And of course you can still view my archives in the old fashion month-by-month way under ‘Archives’.
