Maiden Voyage

Recently I was invited to a party aboard a ship that my neighbor in captaining across the world transporting a range of cargo. The ship was brand new and the party was celebrating its maiden voyage which was taking place on 25th of July, first heading up along the coast to Brisbane and then on to India. It was built in Japan and was only 3 months old.
Both the chief engineers gave me a tour of ship including the accommodation quarters, engine room and control rooms. The engine room is amazing with several stories of machinery with everything from the actual engine components, to steering controls and firefighting equipment. It’s like a huge car engine.
The ship is built to provide living conditions for the whole crew with things like huge air conditioning units, heating units, several refrigeration units for different temperatures storage rooms, kitchen and leisure facilities. It was great to see such a huge ship and the insides of how everything works. The picture below of the crane and truck is the offloading of soybeans from the ship to be transported.
