Ocean Dome

Japan seems to have everything. All the new technology, gizmos and latest inventions seem to spew forth from the Asian island. So if someone was to create an artificial beach, it would be no surprise to find it in Japan.
Since 1993, the Seagaia Ocean Dome has been the world’s largest indoor water park. It is located in Miyazaki and is part of the Sheraton Seagaia Resort. In late 2007 the Ocean Dome closed for renovations and has just recently reopened. they must have done a good job because visitor levels have doubled from its pre-renovation days to nearly 2 and a half million visitors a year.
Possibly the most interesting feature is it’s artificial beach, which combines all the best of the beach with constant warmed water to 28 degrees, hi-tech wave machinery and marble sand – just like real sand except it doesn’t stick to your body as much.
The Dome also has a fake volcano that spits flames, the world’s largest retractable roof, climate control keeping the temperature at 30 degrees and to top off the beach atmosphere, a permanently blue sky. If you’re heading to Japan and miss the Australian beaches, why not stop by?
